It is always about loving God and enjoying what I do...it is about creating and making something better and then sharing it. Kind of like how we need to be in life. When I work (paint, create) I pray and pray hard because I know God can move a mountain and he can create for anyone a new life...

There is not a day that goes by that we at Picked & Painted don't sit for a moment and really thank God for the community we live in & for the wonderful folks in it. We are so grateful for the support and know that we do this together!

We all haul our own life junk around, so keep in mind that your brother & sisters of your God family also carry around their lifes burdens. Remember not to only pray for them but to also be ready to help carry their load until they get to where God wants them to go.

I am a woman after God's own heart. After years in the business sector & having enough of egos, I decided to take time off to write several books. Following a gentle nudge from God, I starting painting- took a break from writing (for a little bit, waiting on God for that) & love having the time to work &pray. I am a no bones about it gal that is in love with Jesus Christ. He inspires all that I do. If you don't know Jesus and want to, ask Him and he will share with you, Himself. As far as the furniture, I am grateful to be able to create these pieces and most pieces are painted while I spend my thoughts with God. I don't worry about building an empire or an ego, it is about God, the furniture is a creative result of His love for me. All new pieces are located on our facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/PickedPaintedandPrayed/

It is that one piece that you saved up for, that you love to show off as it shares a bit about who you are…it makes you glad in your soul. In all that you do, make a statement…make it good.

I am inspired by words & music, by smiles from my children and when someone does good. I am inspired by others stories. Mostly I am inspired by God. He made beautiful; share in it.

Life is one of those things that you have no idea what it will bring you. Making your space functional & pretty may make whatever comes your way a little bit easier…or just easier to find.

I find in my life & listening to others that I meet that it is always the small stuff that gives us the biggest love. Slow down, turn slowly, look for those small things and your heart will grow big too. Lean on Jesus

    Psalm 145:18–20
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves
them. The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he
    will destroy.

imageThat’s important for all of us to understand: “The Lord is near to all who call on Him.” From my experience, the Lord is as near to you as a prayer. If you feel that God is far away, all you have to do is call on Him, to begin to pray to Him and that sense of His distance will disappear. Our sense of things are not what is true.God is true and can overcome us and our thoughts of what we think we know of how things really are.

To me, that’s one of the marvels of this life of faith, that I can just
close my eyes, bow my head and immediately be in contact by prayer with
almighty God. He is near to all who call upon Him. He fulfills the desires of
those who fear Him. If my heart is right with reverence and awe before
God, then the desires that are in my heart and expressed by my prayer, He
will fulfill. And when I cry to Him, He saves me, He watches over me
because I’m committed to Him. That is his loving care for us in each of our lives and when we see with what we do know, that he is there. That’s true for each one of us.

So, if you are feeling lonely, perplexed and you don’t know where to turn,
remember: God is just as near to you as a prayer. “The Lord is near to all who
call upon Him.” There are no exceptions. Try calling upon Him and see what
He will do for you. I promise that if you step out in faith you will experience God’s care and His divine providence in your life.

    Psalm 31:15
My times are in your hands

2593585510045724542s425x425q85What a profound and blessed revelation – that God has absolute control over all the times in our lives. God is the only one in the anywhere, the universe that totally controls time. This is beautifully demonstrated in the heavenly bodies. Countless millions and millions of stars move around in the universe with absolute precision. Isaiah the prophet says that the Lord calls every one of them forth by name and they are all present, not one is wanting. How beautiful to know that. Wen you look to the sky, do you realize that the stars are written in movement in every way by your heavenly Father? He makes the song, He then creates the dance.

The sun never rises late or sets early. Astronomers can calculate the exact place of every heavenly body in the remote past, in the distant future. God has absolute control over time and what David realized when he uttered those words is this: that God has absolute control over the times in our lives. He’s never late. He’s never premature. He has a time for every situation, every circumstance. If we will just commit our lives totally into His hands, we’ll find that our times are in His hands. What a relief from pressure, from strain, to know that God has control over the time. He sets the path for our footing,no matter what forks in the road we face. If we stop, take pause and ask Him…all we have to do is step out in faith and follow His road for us. He knows the way, we just need to trust Him.

18679483  Let’s face it – life is busy. And one of the byproducts of a busy life is a cluttered house. With piles of paper coming home from school and toys creating obstacle courses in the family room, parents may wonder how they’ll ever take back control of the house. A couple of  Picked, Painted & Prayed Team  share their ideas for doing just that.

Making the most of small spaces

Ashley, creative director and artist for  nearly 20 years and an instructor at Paint Workshops, recommends that people start looking at interior spaces in a new way – up. Utilizing a room’s vertical space along the walls takes the heavy lifting off floor space as a catch-all for clutter.

“Consolidating objects in some kind of containment, whether with shelves, cubes, wall-hung baskets or other organizational options cleans up visual clutter,” she says.

This technique is especially beneficial in small living areas. In these situations, adding vertical modular storage units opens up space for tables and couches, while adding utility and keeping potentially harmful items away from small hands.

    Family-friendly furniture

Erin, life class director at PaintWorkshops, Fredericksburg advises families to think toward the future when choosing furniture items. “Durability, easy maintenance and flexibility of the fabric are essential,” she says. Children will grow up quickly so choosing materials that meet the family’s needs now and in the future is highly advisable.

Both Ashley and Erin suggest nylon upholstery and durable, low-sheen furniture finishes, fiber seal textiles and individual lounge chairs sharing an ottoman instead of a loveseat. These combinations offer form, function, and style, as well as the opportunity to fit in alongside new furniture purchases.

“Selecting furniture with clean lines, in subdued patterns in a medium value range – not too light or dark – can work in a variety of settings,” Erin adds.

To add pops of color, change the wall paint. Erin suggests choosing Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) free products – because they are very eco- and child-friendly. These paints don’t emit any toxic fumes and are completely odorless making it possible to literally paint a bedroom and have the kids sleep in it that same evening. “It also allows for flexibility of changing things around without huge costs, especially when transitioning from a nursery to a preschooler to a preteen, etc,” shares Erin.

    Keeping peace in shared spaces

It’s hard enough to convince siblings to share a tablet; what happens when they have to share closet space?

“Sharing a closet is best accomplished when it is clear who controls which space,” asserts Ashley.

She recommends defining areas based on age – for example, placing an older child’s clothing on the top level of a double-hung closet. The area can be accessed via a stepstool – out of a younger sibling’s reach.

Another option is to hang two bars extending into the depth of the closet, rather than one utilizing the width of the closet.

“Two bars on each side, in double-hung fashion, gives each child four feet of hanging space,” she says. And it may help to keep the peace when it’s time to choose an outfit.

A time and place for individual style

While parents show off their acquired style through furniture choices, artwork and decor, children’s style can be a bit more – changeable.

Erin suggests that parents provide children with flexible display systems that show off their creativity in a simple, neat and contained package.

“Magnetic paint gives children direct control over what they display, allowing them to change displays whenever they want. A large frame with a plexi shield is a lightweight way to display a variety of flat work like children’s custom artwork.”

Creating a functional living space – where parents and children coexist harmoniously – doesn’t have to be a daunting task. By choosing durable but stylish furniture, practical storage solutions, and allowing everyone the chance to express their style in defined places, your home can become a haven for all ages.
